a sweet way to detox

i've heard that fasting can be a wondrous journey of discovery.  that its healthy and healing.

one of the main purposes is to detox the liver.  all those fast food options out of convenience and processed foods filled with sugar, fat and preservatives take their toll on our liver.  (that's right, my friend sima - 10 year of mcdonalds is cleared out in just 3 short days!)

but lets face it . . . . you KNOW why I wanna do it!

its also a GREAT way to shed a few pounds, and kick-start a new healthier way of eating.  (so if you are considering a change in your diet . . . eliminating meat, eating organic, or just leaner and healthier - this is a great way to begin this longer journey!)

there are many detox diets out there, but i've chosen an all fruit diet as a way to cleanse simply because it is low in calories, yet does not shut the digestive system down - so no drop in metabolism.

and i like fruit.    so i think i can stick this out for 3 days.

so here it is . . .

  • BREAKFASTmelon.  as much as you want.  honeydew, cantaloupe, gala, or watermelon.
  • LUNCHTIME:  oranges, grapefruits, pineapples or plums.  eat one at a time until you're not hungry.  and don't mix the fruits.
  • SNACK:  one large glass of freshly pressed carrot juice.
  • DINNER:  apples, pears, grapes, or bananas.  again, only one at a time, and no mixing.

*drink plenty of water.  may flavor with lemon.

**in place of my morning tea:  a combination of hot water, lemon, cayenne pepper, and a dash of maple syrup.

i begin tomorrow - thursday.

    Peg,

Good luck and I join you in mind and spirit. As for body, starting today, I begin what I hope will be a lifelong change and that is simply not eating after my children go to bed for the night. Dinner. Some times a plan dessert, and give my poor digestive system a break between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. If I can embrace this change, I will be on my way to LuLu Lemon's next Thursday to buy cute spring capri workout pants.

    Staying in touch via facebook!

    xo,
