hang on honey - its the ride of your life!
how many decisions do we make simply out of fear?
like staying in a relationship . . . because we're scared to be alone. or avoiding a relationship . . . because we're scared of getting hurt.
too scared to lose, we simply won't play. too frightened to fall, we simply won't try.
we swallow our words in fear of being wrong, avoid taking risks for fear of failure, and never take that stand for fear of rejection.
fear says *stay safe* and avoid all danger. but is it really dangerous to be alone? or wrong? or is it simply uncomfortable.
fear may always be the backseat driver, forever adding its two cents. but it should never be allowed to drive. for when fear is the driver, you never really move forward, you merely go around and often find yourself in the same place over and over again.
ask yourself . . . who is really driving?
and if it is fear - isn't it about time you took back the wheel?

as i was finishing up this post, i received an invitation from a friend to join her in flying trapeze lessons. (i am not joking about this.)
i am reminded of my morbid fear of heights as well as a pretty healthy fear of looking completely foolish.
just the same, guess who's about to hang on for dear life this tuesday . . . ?

I like this idea of releasing the brakes, revving the engine and "taking a ride." Automatically there's, oh ... at least six fear-driven things that belong in the trunk ... or better yet dumped. (I don't think my Rogue has enough room for them, and I’m tired of being accommodating.) Trapeze lessons, huh? Grab that bar and fly … and thanks for raising the bar and our sights to the skies.

a little fear makes us thoughtful - a lot of fear is debilitating. fear is not a bad thing, of course. but it does not get to assume control . . . just the usual back seat driving.
