creating room/s to grow
i realize most people make their yearly resolutions the first day of january . . . however, mine have always coincided with the first day of school.
*today is the beginning of a fresh new year for the kids* thus today, i shall begin fresh as well.
my resolve is to write every day. and to establish a daily and weekly routine that is balanced and includes healthy meals, family time, quiet time, yoga, and work.
yet, here i sit stymied. i’m distracted and i don’t know where to start.
perhaps it is the two duffle bags of unpacked clothes that are in a corner of the dining room. or my work papers strewn across the living room coffee table. the kitchen remains a household working space, with the remains of breakfast and bills scattered on the counter.
at the moment, my living space is less than inspirational and rather screams of distractions. i realize my first step in creating a routine that reflects my values and goals - must begin with the space in which i live.
for me, my living area is my working area . . . yet the two need not be so indiscriminate and enmeshed.

<ugh!>

for me, my living area is my working area . . . yet the two need not be so indiscriminate and enmeshed.each room should be reflective of its purpose and support me in my goals. it involves more than just tidying up - it goes deeper than that.
our surroundings shape our thoughts, our actions, and even our emotions. thus our home becomes a mirror of who we are, what we value, or even who we’d like to be. each room should be in sync with us functionally, emotionally, and spiritually.

with each room representing a vital compartment of who we are . . . all of which should work together in harmony. so . . .
perhaps you shall join me, this day of change - the first unofficial day of fall. let us transform the space within the walls of our home into a place of health and happiness, and begin to build the foundation of our everyday living.
like pieces of a puzzle, let each room represent the various aspects of our vibrant, ideal selves - harmoniously coming together to reflect our very essence.
- i shall replace the stacks of papers in my kitchen with bowls of fresh fruit.
- and the dining room table will be clutter free, an open invitation to the family to gather round.
- flowers from my garden and candles will create a space that is both warm and inspiring.
- softer light for the bedroom . . . where computers and phones remained banned.
- and a brighter light for office . . . where order rules and boundaries set as not to spill outside.
from chaos . . . |

The first day of school felt like a new year for me and my husband too; we were just saying that at dinner last night. Hmmm, need help with the decluttering thing!
