the value of a $3 bill
i refuse to imitate. i will not be a copy.
today is an original . . . and it deserves nothing less from me.
take a risk - be bold.
who said "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" perhaps. but its also dishonest.

think about it, what would you rather - the real thing . . . or a copy? your man gets down on one knee, and slips a cubic zirconia on your finger while hoping you'll think its a diamond . . . . how do you feel?
cheated. or at least, that's how i'd feel.
and not because the ring was not beautiful or precious - but simply because it was being presented as something it wasn't. thereby, no matter what YOU call it - i call it a fake.
in my kids' schools, they use the honor code - a written promise that the work they present is their own.
so here's my promise: each day, the person that i present shall be me and not an imitation of someone i wish i were. i will forever remain inspired by many - and offer credit when due. yet, you can trust and believe in my strengths and my flaws, as they are mine, and mine alone.
for i am the diamond - sometimes in the rough - and not the imitation.
the ideas i present, the words i speak, and the work i do, promise to be a genuine and authentic reflection of me.
on my honor.

Well said. We owe it to ourselves; I owe it to myself to just be me and the best me I can be and know that there is a world of good in that alone.
